The Law Office of Dan J. Alpert serves a variety of AM, FM, LPFM, FM translator, LPTV, and NCE broadcasting clients.

I am involved with assisting clients with the acquisition of radio and television stations, and dealing with licensing and broadcast regulatory matters before the Federal Communications Commission, on a daily basis.   As a well-known workaholic by my clients and friends, I work day and night to get my clients’ applications filed and granted, and their FCC problems solved.

My enthusiasm for the broadcasting field began with following the career of my brother (former ABC Radio Correspondent David R. Alpert).  It continued at Northwestern University, where I was part of the on-air newscast staff at campus radio station WNUR, while earning my Bachelor of Arts degree.  My educational training continued at the George Washington University National Law Center, where I graduated With Honors, and where I first became exposed to coursework in broadcast regulation.  In 1983, I moved into the field of Communications Law at the communications boutique law firm Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth, where I received the bulk of my Communications Law training.  I then practiced law at two full-service corporate law firms before establishing my own legal practice in 1992, focusing entirely on Communications Law.

I have now been in private practice for over 35 years.  In 2019, I was honored to be named one of America’s “Top Ten Broadcast Attorneys” by Radio + Television Business Report.

If you are ever visiting the Washington, DC Area, you can easily spot my car – it has the license plate “COMMLAW”!
